Amateur Drama Circuit
There is a very strong tradition of amateur dramatics in the Drogheda area. Annually, Droichead hosts 4-5 shows by groups from the locality to sell-out audiences. The most prominent groups over the past number of years have been Kayther, Donore/Rosnaree, Duleek, St. Brigid's and Aisteoiri na Boinne.
Nomad Touring Theatre Initiative
NOMAD, is a network formed with a remit to develop a co-ordinated strategy for touring theatre regionally, support the creation of professional work of a high standard in the region and ensure our audiences are offered a first rate choice of theatre. The network formed in February 2006 and there are nine members including Droichead Arts Centre. NOMAD will tour ‘Conversations to a Homecoming’ to Droichead in November ’07 as a result of securing €163,000 funding un der the Touring experiment from the Arts Council.
Calipo Theatre Company
The award winning Calipo Theatre Company is one of Irelands most exciting and innovative producers of theatre. Recent successes include: 10 Dates with Mad Mary by Yasmine Akram ( Droichead Arts Centre 2009); All Over Town by Phillip McMahon (Project 2009); Chatroom by Enda Walsh (Smock Alley - Dublin Fringe 2008) and Wunderkind by Darren Thornton (Project Dublin 06/Edinburgh Festival 07).
Calipo Outreach
A big part of Calipo’s identity is creating work for a younger audience; in keeping with this philosophy, the company has an extensive workshop programme in film and drama that the Calipo team facilitate with teenagers and young adults around the county including Sharp Focus, a cross border project, that brings young people and professional film makers together on the production of a short film.
Calipo Pictures is the newest addition to Calipo’s creative stable. The company operates as a film and television production company. Recent successes include Frankie, an award winning short film which has screened all over the world and has won numerous awards, including the Prix UIP at the Berlin Film Festival, the Audience Award for Best Short at the Los Angeles Film Festival and the European Film Academy Award for Best Short in December 2008;

Drogheda Cultural Enterprises
Droichead Arts Centre is an active member of Drogheda Cultural Enterprises, a dedicated enterprise for the network of current and new professional organisations in the Drogheda area which will support, promote, market and develop Drogheda as a cultural product to an audience locally nationally and internationally. Members include, Calipo Theatre & Film Company, Drogheda Borough Council Arts Office, Highlanes Gallery, Millmount Museum and Upstate Theatre Company. In 2007, as a result of Louth Leader funding DCE participated in Strategic Management and Sponsorship Development Training. Louth Leader also invested in the development of this website and in the design of our Leanbh 2007 Programme.
